Oakland Avenue Bulb-Outs and Nova/Magnolia Traffic Island Improvements

Summary: This project will install traffic safety improvements at the Oakland/Jerome, Oakland/El Cerrito, and Nova/Magnolia intersections. Pedestrian and vehicle access will be maintained at these intersections during construction. The proposed preliminary construction schedule proposes the following:

• Oakland/Jerome – Start on January 2, 2024 and complete by March 2024
• Oakland/El Cerrito – Start on January 9, 2024 and complete by March 2024
• Nova/Magnolia – Start on January 16, 2024 and complete by April 2024

Construction schedules are dependent on a variety of conditions and are subject to change. Staff will continue to provide updated information as it becomes available.

Updates:

• October 4, 2021: The City Council directs staff to proceed with the design of traffic safety improvements at the Oakland/Jerome and Oakland/El Cerrito intersections.
• November 1, 2022: Neighborhood meeting to discuss preliminary concepts.
• March 6, 2023: The City Council reviewed the proposed improvements and directed staff to proceed with the preparation of construction documents.
• November 6, 2023: The City Council awarded the construction agreement to Terocons, Inc.
