Witter Field renovation project update
Published June 23, 2023
This update was published jointly by the Piedmont Unified School District and the City of Piedmont.
The construction phase of the Piedmont Unified School District’s Witter Field renovation project began on Tuesday, June 6th.
To date, work has primarily consisted of site preparation, materials staging, and removal of the existing field. Over the next month, construction crews are expected to begin excavation of the field and drainage trenches and begin installation of new drainage piping. The renovation is expected to be complete in late 2023.
Parking restrictions continue on Palm Drive, El Cerrito, Winsor, and Park View Avenues
During July 2023, parking restrictions will remain in place on:
- the 400 block of El Cerrito Avenue (odd side)
- the 1100 block of Winsor Avenue (even side)
- the 100-200 block of Palm Drive (even side)
- 1159 Winsor Avenue
- 255 Park View Avenue
No parking will be permitted along these streets between 8am and 4pm, Monday-Friday. Existing “no parking” signage will be updated to reflect enforcement through July 31st.
The schedule for August parking restrictions will be announced by July 24, 2023.
No construction or parking restrictions on July 4th
No work will occur on July 4, 2023, so parking restrictions will not be in effect.
Winsor driveway gate closure
The pedestrian access gate next to the Winsor driveway field entrance, which many residents use to access the Piedmont Park off-leash dog area, will be closed Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4pm. The gate will be locked and chained during these periods.
The District asks residents to respect the gate closure for your own safety, as the Winsor driveway is being actively used for construction activity. The gate will remain open for pedestrian access to the off-leash dog area outside of working hours and on weekends.
PUSD to provide monthly updates on construction activity and parking restrictions
PUSD is committed to providing regular project updates. The District will publish an expected schedule of parking restrictions and other impacts for the following month no later than the 24th of each month.
The Piedmont Unified School District (PUSD) and the City of Piedmont recognize that construction is inconvenient and disruptive. We appreciate your patience and understanding as Witter Field is upgraded to benefit the whole community.
