Rain and wind continue, but intense weather on pause for now

National Weather Service forecasts show mild to moderate rainy weather continuing into next week and beyond.

Although Piedmont has experienced significant impacts from the rain and wind since December 30th, including fallen trees, landslides, and damage to city facilities, we are fortunate to have escaped the flooding and destruction being seen across the region and state.

Current forecasts do not show intense storms in Piedmont in the near future, but the series of atmospheric rivers bringing severe weather across California is ongoing. Stay informed, be prepared, and follow guidance from safety officials:

  • Monitor weather forecasts: Check news and weather apps daily. Check weather.gov or @NWSBayArea on Twitter for current advisories and warnings.

  • Sign up for alerts: Safety officials will use AC Alert to send information and instructions in the event of flooding or another emergency. Sign up at acalert.org.

  • Avoid roads during period of intense rain and high wind, if possible.

  • Never walk or drive into flood waters. If you encounter flooding, turn around.

Extended power outages being experienced elsewhere in the Bay Area are a good reminder to check and restock your household’s disaster supply kit.
