Get free compost

Free compost is available at the Corporation Yard to Piedmont residents on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Need to know

  • Bring your own shovel, container, and gloves
  • Available at any time
  • Pick-up trucks must tarp their loads

Before you start

The compost site will be closed if it’s raining or when the site is muddy. If you can't make it during our open hours, check out other local compost hubs.

We cannot guarantee compost is available every day.

The compost we provide originally comes from local green waste, like yard trimmings and food waste. The green waste is brought to a processing plant in Richmond where it is converted into compost.

Steps

  1. Visit the City’s Corporation Yard located at 898 Red Rock Road.
  2. Find the dumpster box located to the right of the entrance.
  3. Use your own equipment to load the compost you need.
