How to vote

  • You can register online.
  • You need to be 18 years or older on election day, but you can pre-register if you are 16 or 17 years old.
  • If you’ve moved or changed your name since the last election, you need to re-register.

If you are registered, you are automatically sent a vote-by-mail ballot. You can vote in-person or by mail. You can vote at any voting center in Alameda County or return your ballot to an official drop box.

As a voter, you have specific rights when it comes to voting. If you believe you have been denied your rights, call (800) 345-VOTE (8683).

September 26, 2024 Voter information guide is mailed. You should get it in your mailbox within a week.
October 7, 2024 Vote-by-mail ballots are mailed. You can return it by US mail or drop it at a secure ballot drop box.
October 7, 2024 Early voting is now open. You can vote in-person or drop off your ballot at the County Registrar of Voters office.
October 21, 2024 Last day to register to vote. If you miss this deadline, you can register and vote in-person on election day at any vote center in Alameda County.
October 26, 2024 11-day vote centers open
November 2, 2024 4-day vote centers open
November 5, 2024 Election day: polls are open until 8pm. You can vote at any of the 100 vote centers or drop off your ballot at any of the 66 secure ballot drop boxes in Alameda County.
