Summer Camps
The Summer Sidekicks program provides the opportunity for neurodiverse children to experience a typical camp experience. The summer program is designed to get children moving and making new friends with the support of experienced instructors as well as trained Teen Sidekicks. Two-thirds of last year's sidekicks campers attended camp for the very first time!
PRD offers two types of camp experiences: Adaptive Camps and Summer Sidekicks (1-on-1 Matching). Camp themes range from sports to art to Lego™ to dance/yoga. All camps include a social aspect and activities are designed to teach new skills and foster new friendships.
"My child could not attend summer camp without a Teen Sidekick. Having a Sidekick around to help my child follow along and attend keeps me from worrying about them because I know there is someone looking out for them. It is also a great way for my child to ask questions and to be able to adjust what they are able to do and enjoy based on the guidance of a Teen Sidekick."
"The Sidekicks Program has changed my kid's life. He has so much more confidence having a buddy help him through what could easily be overwhelming experiences."
