11:00am–3:00pm
Piedmont Park
This year's Harvest Festival will feature all the fun events and activities you've come to expect. The Piedmont Education Foundation Carnival is back and in full swing, the main stage will be jumping with the Jazz Festival, and the Food Trucks will be fired up alongside the Village Market Farmer's market as usual. Also returning, as the heart of the event, will be the Piedmont Edibles Contest! Grow on Piedmont!
Edibles Contest
Edible contests have been a part of the Piedmont Harvest Festival since the beginning in 1998. They showcase, for the appreciation of all, the amazing diversity of fruits and vegetables grown in Piedmont, and the talent of our residents in preparing and preserving these products for their families and friends.
Featuring the best homegrown and homemade foods from Piedmont, the Edibles Contest is your chance to show off your culinary prowess. To enter:
- Create or grow your edible masterpiece.
- Download and complete the entry form, and attach your label to your creation.
- Bring your labeled item and entry form to Piedmont Community Hall on Sunday, September 24th between 7:30am and 10 am.
So dust off those recipe cards, roll out the dough, and get ready for some fun at this year's Harvest Festival! (No public tasting.)
Piedmont Jazz Festival
Enjoy live music by local musicians on the Harvest Festival stage from 11am-3pm.
Community Groups Tables
If your community group is interested in having a table at the event that is both "harvest" themed and interactive, please contact Jessica Pomey. We do not allow groups to sell anything at their table during the Festival.
Art Show
A wonderful part of the Harvest Festival is the display of local artists around the Tea House. We are now accepting applications. If you live in Piedmont and would like to submit your art for consideration, please contact Jane Reed (510) 654-2670 for additional information.
Scarecrow Alley
The theme for the Scarecrow Alley silent auction at the festival is "Space Invasion". This treasured tradition is a great class project! It's a fun way to meet the parents and kids in your child's class. Ideally, a family in each class will volunteer to coordinate the creation of a scarecrow. Scarecrows are usually put together in a backyard, a park, or school playground and they need to be delivered to Piedmont Park on the morning of the festival.
Think beyond straw—scarecrows can be made of any material. Have a superhero or animal costume? Stuff it and make a head out of papier mâché! Ask your kids their favorite animated creature, or talk to them about yours. You don't need to be an engineer to make a scarecrow and the kids love to participate. Scarecrows make fantastic Halloween décor! You will see them on display all over town after the Harvest Festival!
If you would like more information about the Scarecrow Silent Auction, please contact [email protected] and [email protected].
Volunteer Opportunities
The Harvest Festival is one of Piedmont’s most anticipated events of the year…and it simply wouldn’t be possible without the help of our volunteers. Help out on our “Green Team”, the Edibles Contest or the carnival.
Contact Recreation Supervisor Eva Phalen at [email protected] to learn more about volunteer opportunities at the event.
The Piedmont Garden Club Turns 100!
To celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Piedmont Garden Club (PCG), "The Essential Oak", a beautiful exhibit on Oak trees that the PGC Conservation Exhibit Committee created for the Uncorked Flower Show, will be on display at the Piedmont Community Hall during the event. There will also be a short documentary.
