Celebrate Bike Month with the City of Piedmont
City hosting Civic Center Energizer Station on Bike to Work Day and Youth Bicycle Safety Event on Saturday, May 13th

Join thousands across the Bay Area in biking to work, to school, to run errands, or wherever else you’re going on Thursday, May 18th, the 29th annual Bay Area Bike to Work Day.
This yearly celebration of pedal-powered transportation aims to help fledging bike riders find new routes and experience what it’s like to use bicycles as a means of core transportation while also building community among active cyclists. With roughly half of Piedmont’s in-territory greenhouse gas emissions coming from transportation, more residents making the switch to cleaner commute methods is a critical piece of meeting the City’s Climate Action goals.
Get encouragement and goodies at Energizer Stations in Piedmont and across the East Bay
Whether biking into an office or just taking a coffee break while working from home, Bike to Work Day participants can get swag, refreshments, and encouragement at any of 57 Energizer Stations across Alameda County, including a Piedmont station near City Hall, hosted by the City’s Sustainability Division:

Stop by on your bike to say hello and you’ll get a free Bike to Work tote bag (while supplies last) and refreshments courtesy of Mulberry’s Market.

Piedmont Police co-hosting youth Bicycle Safety Event on Saturday, May 13th
Bike to Work Day is just one element of “National Bike Month,” a month-long celebration of pedal power observed throughout the East Bay and across the nation every May.
On Saturday, May 13th, the Piedmont Police Department is teaming up with the Piedmont Council of Boy Scouts of America to offer a bicycle safety event for younger riders. Attendees will get a hands-on opportunity to practice safe bicycling on an agility course hosted by Piedmont Police and Explorers.
Piedmont Youth Bicycle Safety Event
Saturday, May 13th, 10am-1pm
Beach Elementary, 100 Lake Avenue
This event is free to all and open to youth in Kindergarten through 5th grade. A parent will need to be on site to sign the waiver for the agility course.
