Demolition beginning at Community Pool site; Construction hours 7am-4pm
Published February 24, 2023
Demolition of existing buildings at the site of the new Piedmont Community Pool is scheduled to begin as soon as February 27th and is expected to last for six or seven weeks. During this period, there will be significant noise impacts in the Civic Center near the pool site.
Work at the pool site began January 27th. Since then, crews have been doing site preparation and hazard abatement work, including removing trees, shrubs, and pool tiles and drilling for soil samples. Next week, or as soon as PG&E is able disconnect power, the project will enter a new phase as the carriage house, pool shed, and basketball courts are demolished to make way for the new pool and pool building.
Pool construction hours 7am-4pm
Construction work on the new pool site will take place between 7am and 4pm. This shift in traditional working hours is necessary to allow for ingress and egress to the construction site before school drop-off time, which will mitigate congestion in the Civic Center during peak traffic periods as well as support timely completion of the pool project.
Community members can stay informed about pool construction and get direct updates about traffic, noise, and other impacts by subscribing to the City’s Community Pool Construction Updates email list.

The City remains grateful to the community for their generous and ongoing support for the new pool. We appreciate your patience during construction and will continue to work diligently throughout the process to minimize construction impacts and necessary disruptions in the Civic Center as much as possible.
